make your diy zip book in 4 easy steps

Every mum needs a bit of quiet to get some work done or simply to relax. One key to achieving this with little toddlers vying for your attention or trying to bring the house down is to give them some sort of distraction or diversion depending on what you want to term it.When kids are busy or preoccupied with an activity or object, then you can take advantage of this window of opportunity to either rest or get some pending work done. I have a number of ideas up my sleeve that I intend to execute to achieve this, one of such is the zip quiet book that was originally designed to develop fine motor skills and sensory awareness in kids ages 1-5 .It doubles as a quiet book for my kids especially my 2 year old daughter. It keeps them busy for a while till they bored and want to move on to something else. It's a learning ground to initiate skills such as dressing themselves with the use of zip effortlessly.

With the positive feedback and interest many mothers showed in this quiet book when I posted on my instagram handle @comfy_mama I'll share with all moms who are interested(reading this now shows you are interested, so keep reading) a step by step pictorial method on how to create their own zip quiet book like I did with ease.

WHAT YOU NEED

● Hot glue gun

●zips (different colours)

●felt (preferably black for better contrast against the colourful zips)

●carton cut outs (flat bottom or wide enough side panel of a carton)

●Transparent tape for binding the carton

PICTORIAL PROCEDURE

Step 1: cut of a carton, preferably the flat bottom or a wide enough side panel that can accommodate the number of zips you want to use

STEP 2: Bind the carton with a transparent tape to make it straight enough and firm for your kid to hold easily without it crumpling and to make it waterproof also.

STEP 3: To further create a smooth surface and for contrast against the colourful zips, use a felt(preferably a black for better contrast)to wrap round the carton, binding it to the carton with the hot glue.

STEP 4: Take out your zips (use a variety of colours to teach your kids colours too)heat up your hot glue and spread thinly at the back of each zip (too much glue can cause it to spread out to the zip teeth and make it difficult to zip through).press down immediately and firmly because if it becomes cold, it might not stick properly and it can come off when your kid zips vigorously back and forth.

You can spread the zips out vertically, horizontally and slant it also for angle variety. There you have it, your diy zip quiet book in ready in 4 easy steps.

I love to help moms make their life as comfortable as possible and i share my ideas to achieve this freely and at no cost, so kindly share to with your friends and drop your comments on how successful you were in creating this and your kids reaction to it.
